Compressor Oils

Castrol Aircol SN 100 - Synthetic Air Compressor Lubricant - 2162

Castrol Aircol SN 100 - Synthetic Air Compressor Lubricant - 2162

Castrol Aircol SN compressor lubricants are high quality synthetic diesters. For use in all types of air compressor, especially reciprocating and rotary screw compressors operating under severe or normal conditions.

Application

Castrol Aircol SN compressor lubricants were developed to cope with the severe operating conditions experienced in rotary screw, rotary vane and reciprocating air compressors operating at high compression ratios and high discharge temperatures. Under these conditions Aircol SN compressor oils offer much reduced carbon forming tendencies and extended oil life when compared to mineral oils due to their much higher oxidation resistance. In reciprocating units, Aircol SN grades have up to eight times the service life of mineral oils.

Castrol Aircol PD 32 - Air compressor lubricants - 2165

Castrol Aircol PD oils are a range of compressor oils, based upon highly refined mineral oils, which are intended for the lubrication of both reciprocating and rotary air compressors. For lubrication of rotors, bearings and gears in rotary compressors, especially the oil flooded screw type with lubricant drain cycles of up to 2000 hours under normal use.

Application

The Castrol Aircol PD grades are ashless oils recommended for the lubrication of rotors, bearings and gears in rotary compressors, especially the oil flooded screw type with delivery temperatures of up to 120°C. Castrol Aircol PD compressor oils have excellent oxidation resistance and low carbon forming tendencies and meet the requirements of the DIN 51506 VD-L classification of lubricants for compressors having air discharge temperatures up to 220ºC. Castrol Aircol PD compressor oils also have sufficient anti-wear performance, as measured in the FZG Gear Test, to allow their use in certain screw compressors where drive between the screws is transmitted by the rotor faces themselves. The modern tendency in air compressor design is towards higher capacities from smaller units, with higher loads and temperatures leading to greater demands upon the lubricant.

Castrol Aircol PD meets the requirements (for appropriate viscosity grade) of major compressor manufacturers such as Atlas Copco, Champion, Sullair, Compair/Broomwade, Ingersoll-Rand, Kaeser and Bauer.

Advantages

  • Excellent water separation characteristics which allow condensation to readily separate from the oil, minimising the risk of emulsions which could block the oil separator element.
  • Fully inhibited against corrosion which enables protection even when operating under humid conditions.
  • Good thermal stability, low volatility and low carbon formation reduces the risk of fire and explosion and leads to longer operating life (up to 2000 hours).
  • Low deposit forming tendencies extends oil change intervals and provides longer air filter life which contributes to a reduction in maintenance costs.
  • Excellent coalescing properties mean little carry over of oil in the air stream.

Castrol Aircol 299 - Mineral Refrigeration Compressor Oil - 2178

Castrol Aircol 299 -  Mineral Refrigeration Compressor Oil - 2178

For use in refrigeration and air conditioning plants using fluorocarbon refrigerants. Systems using R22 and Ammonia. The Aircol 266 & 299 range of mineral based refrigeration oils is available as two grades of specially selected oils, highly refined, to provide chemical and thermal stability. Their low wax forming tendencies insure low pour points.

Application

Aircol 266 & 299 are specifically for use in refrigeration and air conditioning plants using fluorocarbon refrigerants. The exceptional low temperature characteristics of these oils prevent the flocculent precipitation of wax which can otherwise occur in high performance plant using Freon refrigerants. In most systems using R22, the critical solution temperature characteristics of these oils are adequate to prevent oil/refrigerant separation problems within the low temperature circuits. Where evaporation temperatures are exceptionally low or in systems not incorporating oil/refrigerant separators, synthetic base refrigerant oils may be preferred.
