Castrol Hyspin™ AWH-M hydraulic oils are mineral oil based anti-wear hydraulic fluids which incorporate viscosity index improvers in order to enhance their viscosity - temperature performance for use in environments which are subject to low or widely variable temperatures. The high viscosity index can also allow a degree of rationalisation of hydraulic fluids across different equipment in order to reduce the number of lubricants carried on board.

 

Application

Castrol Hyspin AWH-M contains a shear stable VI which helps maintain the viscosity characteristics of the product over a wide range as well as through prolonged use. Utilising, the same additive system, as described for the Hyspin AWS product range, means that Hyspin AWH-M exhibits excellent corrosion and wear protection as well as outstanding thermal and oxidative stability. In addition, Hyspin AWH-M has excellent stability in the presence of water and separates rapidly from such contamination upon standing.

The Castrol Hyspin™ AWH-M (Superclean) hydraulic oil is a shear stable high viscosity index lubricant. It is based on the latest stabilised zinc additive technology and filtered to ISO class 15/13/10.

 

Application

Hyspin AWH-M contains a shear stable additive system which helps maintain the viscosity characteristics of the product over a wide temperature range even during prolonged use and imparts a very low pour point which enables the product to be used in very cold environments. It exhibits excellent corrosion and wear protection as well as outstanding thermal and oxidative stability. In addition, Hyspin AWH-M has excellent hydrolytic stability and separates rapidly from water contamination upon standing.

Applications include:

  • Outdoor equipment which are likely to operate in wide temperature ranges, such as machinery subjected to cold start up conditions and high temperature continuous running. Examples include off-highway and marine applications.
  • Indoor manufacturing equipment that incorporates control systems requiring minimal viscosity change with temperature. Examples include precision machine tools.
  • The Hyspin AWH-M range is fully compatible with elastomer materials commonly used for static and dynamic seals, such as nitrile, silicone and fluorinated (e.g. Viton) polymers.

Castrol Brayco™ 885 is a diester base synthetic oil with additives which impart corrosion protection, minimise galvanic corrosion, inhibit oxidation, and reduce foaming tendencies. It has exceptionally low volatility and good viscosity temperature characteristics. Temperature Range Brayco 885 is designed to operate over the temperature range of -65ºF to 250ºF (-54ºC to 121ºC).

 

Application

Brayco 885 is intended for use in aircraft instruments, electronic equipment, or in applications where an oil with a low evaporation rate is required for both high and low temperature operation, and also where oxidation and corrosion resistance is desirable. Brayco 885 may adversely affect certain paints and elastomers. Products other than those developed for diester base fluids should be carefully tested for compatibility prior to use. Brayco 885 is qualified under Specification MIL-PRF-6085D. It is specified as a P-17 preservative under packaging Specification MIL-STD-2073-1.

Castrol Brayco™ 300 is a blend of highly refined petroleum oil with suitable additives which provide corrosion prevention, oxidation resistance, and freedom from galvanic corrosion in brass-steel bimetallic systems. The viscosity is similar to a light machine oil. Brayco 300 is a water displacing oil for general purpose applications at low and medium temperatures (-70ºF to 300ºF).

 

Application

Brayco 300 is designed for the lubrication and preservation of small arms, automatic weapons, and fuse mechanism applications, especially where a low temperature, water displacing oil is desired. It may be used to protect unpainted metal surfaces from the effects of indoor storage for periods of three to six months, after which it remains readily removable. Brayco 300 will also protect magnesium and aluminum against corrosion at low and medium temperatures (-70°F to 300°F). Brayco 300 may be applied by brush, dip, swab, spray, or squirt can. Depending on the method of application and surface geometries, Brayco 300 will cover 1,000 to 3,000 square feet per gallon. For water displacement, it may be applied by these same methods. Displaced water should be removed from dip tanks at suitable intervals.

Specifications - Brayco 300 meets the requirements of and is qualified to MIL-PRF-32033. This product is identified by NATO Code Number O-190.
Shelf Life - Brayco 300 has a maximum recommended shelf life of 6 years from date of manufacture. This shelf life assumes that the product is stored in it’s original unopened packaging in ambient temperature conditions.
