Castrol Perfecto HT 5 - Heat transfer oil - 2172

Castrol Perfecto HT 5 - Heat transfer oil - 2172

Castrol Perfecto HT5 is a heat transfer oil based upon highly refined mineral oil, selected for its high thermal stability, resistance to oxidation and low volatility.

Application

Perfecto HT 5 is primarily intended for use in enclosed and sealed systems. It can also be used, at lower temperatures, in systems open to the air. Perfecto HT 5 has a low viscosity which is essential when operating under turbulent flow conditions to achieve very high heat transfer rates.

APPROVALS: Rolls Royce CSS 168

Advantages:

  • Excellent heat transfer properties
  • High operating temperature capability
  • Minimises deposits in heat exchangers
  • Maintains heat transfer efficiency

Pack sizes available - 20ltr, 208ltr drums, 1000ltr IBC, bulk delivery

Castrol Cresta SC 46 - Heat Transfer System Conditioner - 2185

Castrol Cresta SC 46 - Heat Transfer System Conditioner - 2185

Cresta SC 46 is formulated from highly refined paraffinic base stock blended with a foam depressant and an efficient high temperature detergent/dispersant. These disperse products of oxidation, dissolve lacquers and varnish, and remove these from the system in the course of a normal oil change.

Application

Cresta SC 46 has been designed as a system conditioner for heat transfer systems using low viscosity mineral oil of the Perfecto HT5 type.

A preliminary analysis of the oil (which can be carried out by Castrol's Customer Service Laboratory) will determine if the oil requires treatment, or if treatment would be successful. Systems operating at temperatures up to 250ºC which show a viscosity increase of less than 10%, or a decrease of less than 30%, are suitable for treatment. If insolubles (oxidation products) are greater than 0.75% or the Closed Flash Point has fallen below 120ºC, then treatment is unlikely to be successful.

Cresta SC 46 is added until a TBN (Total Base Number) of eight for the total oil charge is reached. This is a measure of the concentration of the active component of the product, and should equate to approximately a 20% concentration of Cresta SC 46. Samples are taken every two weeks for at least six weeks to check the TBN and additions made as necessary to maintain a figure of eight. Any changes in operating temperatures and improvements in process reaction times should be noted. At the end of the six week conditioning period the oil should be drained, thus removing the oxidation products from the system, and refilled with new Perfecto HT5. Further extended service can however be tolerated if process requirements prevent the system from being withdrawn from service.

Castrol Cresta SHS - Steam Cylinder Oil - 3002

Castrol Cresta SHS - Steam Cylinder Oil - 3002

Cresta™ SHS is formulated from selected base cylinder stocks to achieve the desirable characteristics of high flash point and oxidation stability. It possesses good demulsibility, which means for the lubrication of the cylinders of high speed, totally enclosed steam engines, it does not materially reduce the demulsibility of the crankcase oil.

Application

Cresta SHS is designed for the lubrication of steam engine cylinders and valves. It is also suitable for other purposes, such as the lubrication of heavily loaded slow-moving bearings and gears. It is also suitable for condensing engines using high pressure steam up to 200psi and superheat up to 345°C/653°F.

Castrol Cresta VA 460 - Gas compressor lubricant - 3008

Castrol Cresta VA 460 - Gas compressor lubricant - 3008

Cresta VA machinery oils are compounded oils suitable for cylinder lubrication in reciprocating type gas compressors dealing with 'wet' petroleum gases. The Castrol Cresta VA range is formulated with high quality mineral base oils, with the addition of friction and lubricity modifiers to increase the film strength and reduce friction. Water is thoroughly emulsified by the additives in Cresta VA to resist wash-off from metal surfaces, helping to prevent corrosion and wear when moisture is present.

Application

  • Cylinder and Packing lubrication on reciprocating gas compressors when compressing natural gas below its dew point
  • Cylinder lubricant for reciprocating steam engines operating with wet (non-superheated) steam
  • Higher viscosity products from Cresta VA range can also be used in worm gearboxes
