AQUA-QUENCH 300 is a polymer quenchant with more “oil-like” quenching characteristics. AQUA-QUENCH 300 is a poly-vinyl-pyrolidone (PVP) based quenchant. Its slower cooling rate during the critical martensitic transformation temperature range minimizes risk of cracking and distortion and so enables the treatment of higher hardenability steels unsuitable for quenching in PAG type quenchants. AQUA-QUENCH 300 eliminates the smoke, fume and fire hazards associated with oil quenching and provides flexibility of quenching speed. Its nitrite free corrosion inhibitor system provides excellent protection to quench tank, fixtures and fittings, cooling systems and associated pipework.

The quenching speed of AQUA-QUENCH 300 can be selected to suit the steel hardenability and component requirements by varying the concentration and temperature of the solution and the degree of agitation in the quench tank. AQUA-QUENCH 300 is used generally at concentrations of between
10-35%. AQUA-QUENCH 300 can be used in many different types of furnace including continuous mesh belt, shaker hearth, rotary scroll, as well as for direct quenching into open quench tanks. The concentration of AQUA­QUENCH 300 influences the viscosity of the solution and hence the quenching speed. AQUA-QUENCH 300 can be used at concentrations of up to 35%. Used at between
25-35% it exhibits very oil-like quenching characteristics. The effectiveness of the circulation and agitation of the fluid for quenching is important to ensure characteristics and heat distribution uniform especially for th is type of polymer
