From Humble Beginnings...
In November 1989, David Adkins, a recently redundant retail supplier of car parts and accessories took delivery of 40 barrels of Castrol engine oil onto the patio of his home. His mission: ‘to sell it around the Cornwall area and provide an income to support his wife and two young sons’.
This first Castrol delivery resulted in the formation of Kernow Oils. The inspiration for the name derives from the word 'Kernow' being Cornish for Cornwall.
Fast forward through the years and Kernow Oils is still a family-run Cornish business situated in Cornwall's beautiful coastal town Hayle. The current Managing director Mark Adkins is one of those aforementioned ‘young sons’. Mark, along with the ongoing support of other family members has transformed the business into the thriving success it is today.
From small humble beginnings, we have seen the World change drastically through the years. Booming technology and joined-up thinking in infrastructure, have seen the World become a more accessible forum for trade. With this so many new opportunities appeared in an ever-diversifying and geographically expanding market. Though Kernow Oils now supplies lubricants globally, it is proud to retain its founding principle of providing global standards with local service.
